Operation Spark

A New Orleans-based coding school. The Prep course — three weeks of JavaScript basics, taught live online — is free and open to complete beginners, and is the entry point to everything else they run. The longer adult workforce programme and the High School to High Wage track follow on from it.

Why I recommend it: Start with the free Prep course and nothing else. It is free and it answers the only question that matters early on: do you actually like this work? The longer workforce program is not free — ask them directly what it costs and what the financing terms are before you commit, and treat their published average starting salary as their own marketing figure, not a promise.
