Joint Statement on AI, Algorithmic Tools, and Automated Systems, and New Yorkers' Rights

Joint enforcement policy statement (September 2026) from New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, Commission on Human Rights and Taxi and Limousine Commission. It states that existing city consumer, human-rights, worker and for-hire-vehicle laws apply when businesses use AI or automated systems for hiring, pay, scheduling, housing screening, pricing or customer service, and that entities stay legally responsible for what a chatbot, AI agent or algorithm does. It announces no new legal standards.
