Brandeis Marshall

Brandeis Hill Marshall is a data scientist and educator whose work examines how data practices and algorithmic systems affect Black communities and other marginalized groups. She founded the DataedX Group, which trains organizations on responsible data practices, and previously taught computer science at Spelman College. Her book Data Conscience: Algorithmic Siege on Our Humanity (Wiley, 2022) lays out how data collection, modeling and deployment choices produce harm, and what practitioners can do differently.
