No lab publishes a real roadmap
So this page keeps three things apart on purpose. What has already shipped is dated. What is coming is listed only where the lab itself has said it in public, with the source named. Everything else sits under “What to watch” and is my own read of their shipping pattern — informed guessing, not news. If a date matters to you, check the lab's own page linked above.
What they are
Formerly xAI. It merged into SpaceX in February 2026 and was rebranded SpaceXAI in July 2026 — the Grok product name did not change, the company behind it did.
Of the major labs it is the least free-tier-friendly, and the gap between what the marketing implies is free and what actually is deserves attention.
What they currently ship
Every model in the directory entry, with its free-tier status.
- Grok 4.6— Current flagship: agentic tool use and configurable reasoning depth. The free web tier does not include it — only an older, lesser model with unspecified limits.Paid only

What you get for free
The honest version, in one paragraph.
The thinnest of the twelve. The free web tier gives you an older model with limits the company does not specify, plus the Grok Build coding agent and basic voice chat. The flagship, image and video generation, the Voice API and any API access at all are paid.

What to watch
My own read of where this lab is heading, based on how it has shipped so far. Not announcements — treat these as questions to check, not facts.
- — Whether the flagship ever reaches the free web tier, which currently gets only an older, lesser model with unspecified limits.
- — What the SpaceX merger actually changes about model priorities — so far it has changed the name and not much else in public.
- — Whether a free API allowance appears, since every other lab here has one or an open-weight alternative.
