No lab publishes a real roadmap

So this page keeps three things apart on purpose. What has already shipped is dated. What is coming is listed only where the lab itself has said it in public, with the source named. Everything else sits under “What to watch” and is my own read of their shipping pattern — informed guessing, not news. If a date matters to you, check the lab's own page linked above.

What they are

Amazon's own model family, reached through AWS Bedrock rather than a consumer app. Most people encounter Nova because they are already on AWS, not because they chose the model.

It has the weakest free-tier story of the twelve labs here, and September 2026 saw Amazon retire more Nova products than it launched.

What they currently ship

Every model in the directory entry, with its free-tier status.

  • Nova 2 Lite and Nova 2 Sonic— Amazon’s current fast multimodal and speech models, paid via Bedrock; new AWS customers get a one-time $200 credit but there is no ongoing free tier.Trial credits only
  • Note: Nova Premier (the previous flagship) and Nova Canvas/Reel (image and video) were both discontinued in September 2026.
  • Note: Of all twelve labs in this directory, Nova has the weakest free-tier story — no standing free access at all.

What you get for free

The honest version, in one paragraph.

Effectively none. New AWS accounts get a one-time $200 credit, which is a trial, not a free tier. Once it is spent, every Nova call costs money. If you want free access to a capable model, nearly any other lab on this page serves you better.

Things that actually happened, oldest first, each with a date.

  1. December 2024The Nova family launches at re:Invent as Amazon's in-house model line.
  2. 2025Nova Premier arrives as the flagship, alongside Canvas (image) and Reel (video).
  3. September 2026Nova Premier, Canvas and Reel are all discontinued, leaving Nova 2 Lite and Nova 2 Sonic.

My own read of where this lab is heading, based on how it has shipped so far. Not announcements — treat these as questions to check, not facts.

  • — Whether a replacement flagship appears, or Amazon settles for hosting other labs' models and shipping only small ones of its own.
  • — Any standing free tier at all, which would be a change of posture rather than a tweak.
  • — Bedrock's third-party catalog, which is realistically why you would be here.
